Sanju Samson is one of those cricketers who hardly shows his frustration on the field and has a calm demeanour when playing a cricket game. However, on Saturday during the clash between Rajasthan Royals and Punjab Kings, the world witnessed Samson's angry side as he threw his bat in frustration.

Why Samson threw the bat in frustration?

The incident unfolded as Yashasvi Jaiswal was struggling to time the ball and was looking scratchy which was putting pressure on Sanju Samson. The RR captain was the chief aggressor but in the bid to accelerate after Jaiswal's struggles, Samson played a rash shot and departed back.

He slapped a fuller length ball but miscued it badly as the fielder at mid-off too a simple catch. This is when Samson showed his frustration as he threw his bat in the air and was angry on how he failed to play a longer innings.

By the time the RR skipper departed he had amassed 38 off 26 balls and looked in ominous touch.

Samson replaces Parag as RR captain

For the first three matches of the IPL 2025, Samson was playing as a pure batter and was coming in as impact substitute. That was because he suffered from an index finger injury and had a successful surgery on it.

As a result, Riyan Parag was made the captain of the team and the new captain won 1 out of 3 matches played. From this game onwards, Samson was back as the Rajasthan captain.
