Indian captain, Rohit Sharma continues to assert his dominance in Test cricket. His scintillating form in the ongoing two-match Test series against West Indies has been nothing short of exceptional.

Rohit broke Jayawardene's 21-year-old Test record

Scoring a breathtaking century in the opening Test, Rohit followed it up with two robust half-centuries in the second Test. His second innings in Trinidad was particularly mesmerizing, as he raced to a swift fifty in just 35 balls, marking his fastest half-century in Test cricket.

In doing so, the batting maestro etched his name in history books by surpassing Sri Lankan legend Mahela Jayawardene's record. Rohit now stands alone at the summit with 30 consecutive double-digit scores in Test cricket, edging past Jayawardene's tally of 29.

Rohit's brilliance and skill have been on full display throughout his last 30 Test innings. With scores of 12, 161, 26, 66, 25*, 49, 34, 30, 36, 12*, 83, 21, 19, 59, 11, 127, 29, 15, 46, 120, 32, 31, 12, 12, 35, 15, 43, 103, 80, 57, his consistent performances are a proof of his genius.

The Indian skipper, playing his 52nd Test match, marked his 16th half-century with his 57-run knock on Sunday. With a total run tally in Test cricket of 3677, the dynamic batter maintains an average of 46.54 across 88 innings.

Moreover, since the inception of the World Test Championship (WTC) in 2019, the 36-year-old has been the top run-scorer for India in the tournament. He has accumulated 2092 runs in 25 WTC matches, boasting an average of 53.64, with seven centuries and six half-centuries.

Rohit is followed by former captain Virat Kohli, who has scored 2063 runs at an average of 38.92 in the WTC, with four centuries and nine half-centuries to his name.
