Indian opener Rohit Sharma is set to feature in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26 as Mumbai announced their squad for the domestic one-day tournament. Notably, Yashasvi Jaiswal has not been included in the squad at this stage, while the 17-member Mumbai side will be led by all-rounder Shardul Thakur.
Rohit Sharma bolsters Mumbai’s Vijay Hazare Trophy campaign
Mumbai are set to begin their VHT 2025-26 campaign from December 24, placed in Elite Group C, with all of their group-stage matches scheduled to be played in Jaipur. They will open their campaign against Sikkim in a group that also features Uttarakhand, Chhattisgarh, Himachal Pradesh, Maharashtra, Punjab, and Goa.
The biggest talking point in the Mumbai squad is the inclusion of Rohit Sharma, who will be available for two matches as per Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA). Rohit’s presence, along with Virat Kohli being named in Delhi’s squad, significantly elevates the profile of the tournament and makes it a must-watch.

Shardul Thakur (c), Rohit Sharma (available for 2 matches), Ishan Mulchandani, Musheer Khan, Angkrish Raghuvanshi, Sarfaraz Khan, Siddhesh Lad, Chinmay Sutar, Akash Anand (wk), Hardik Tamore (wk), Shams Mulani, Tanush Kotian, Tushar Deshpande, Onkar Tarmale, Sylvester Dsouza, Sairaj Patil, and Suryansh Shedge.
At the top of the order, opening batter Ishan Mulchandani has earned a maiden call-up. The batting unit also features a strong youth core, including Sarfaraz Khan, who performed very well in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
Angkrish Raghuvanshi, Musheer Khan and another new batting face Chinmay Sutar further strengthen Mumbai’s depth with Siddhesh Lad continues to be the experienced mainstay in the middle order. Notably, veteran batter Ajinkya Rahane has been rested from the group stage due to hamstring issues.
In the bowling department, SRH auction recruit Onkar Tarmale is set to make his debut, joining captain Shardul and Tushar Deshpande in the pace attack. Shams Mulani and Tanush Kotian offer invaluable all-round value as spin options, while big-hitter Suryansh Shedge adds late-order firepower.
Yashasvi Jaiswal, who was recently discharged from hospital after suffering acute gastroenteritis, has not been named in the initial squad but could join later once fully fit. Other Indian internationals like Suryakumar Yadav and Shivam Dube may also link up with the squad when available.
