Rishabh Pant, the Indian keeper-batter, is a fighter, and he proved it once again during the second unofficial Test between India A and South Africa A. On Day 3 of a riveting Test match, Pant received multiple blows to his body as he suffered an injury and was retired hurt, which gave a mini scare to the Indian dressing room.

Ahead of the Test series against South Africa, the unofficial Test was the best chance for Pant to prove his fitness, but the batter failed to cope with Tshepo Moreki's fiery delivery as he copped multiple blows. He was first hit on his helmet as a mandatory concussion test was conducted, and it was followed by a deadly blow on his elbow as Pant looked uncomfortable and was taken off the field.

During the England tour, Pant was hit on his foot by a Chris Woakes delivery as he was taken off the field and was subsequently ruled out of the fifth Test match. Post that, he missed two months of cricket and after getting the clearance from BCCI’s medical team, the southpaw was picked in the Test squad for South Africa series.
