In an unfortunate incident, experienced Indian batter Rishabh Pant was retired hurt after receiving multiple blows to his body during India-A's ongoing Test against South Africa-A. It's worth mentioning that Pant recently made his Test comeback, finding a place in India's squad for South Africa Tests after proving his fitness and form in the first game against the Proteas A-team.

However, days after earning a Test recall, Rishabh Pant gave a major injury scare to India, getting retired hurt during the decider at the BCCI CoE ground in Bengaluru.

Tshepo Moreki's thunderbolts injure Rishabh Pant in IND-A vs SA-A

The second Test between India-A and South Africa-A is Rishabh Pant's final dress rehearsal before the Proteas home series. However, the batter not only registered two consecutive underwhelming scores but also got retired hurt upon failing to counter Tshepo Moreki's pacey deliveries.

The South African speedster cramped Pant for room when the latter was trying to unsettle him with his unorthodox strokeplay. Moreki's sharp bouncer caught Pant off guard, with the batter undergoing a mandatory concussion test.

After that, he was hit on his elbow before being struck by a pacy delivery right on the abdomen. In this process, the Indian wicketkeeper-batter hurt himself, receiving nasty blows to his body and helmet.

As it turned out, Pant was retired hurt and walked off the field, leaving India-A in disarray amid fiery spells from the South African pacers, particularly Moreki and Okuhle Cele.

Rishabh Pant's injury: A worrying sign for India before SA Tests

Rishabh Pant recently recovered from a toe injury that kept him out of the home series against West Indies. He had a memorable outing in the first IND-A vs SA-A Test, announcing his comeback with a scintillating ton. Although it's likely that Pant might've retired hurt as a precautionary measure, things could certainly get uglier for India if his injury turns out serious and jeopardises his participation in the South Africa series.
