India vs Australia 5th T20I stopped due to inclement weather as rain looms large in Brisbane

Just when the Indian duo of Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill were going hammer and tongs against the Australian side, bad weather decided to interrupt the proceedings as it halted India’s momentum and the players had to walk back to the pavilion as the entire square was quickly covered as safety measures.

According to the weather forecast, there was a rain prediction in Brisbane throughout the day, and lightning occurred during the 5th T20I as the players were quickly taken off the field as heavy rain is expected to lash near the Gabba Stadium.

According to Accuweather, heavy rain is expected in the evening after the lightning, and it mentions that the rain could last for an hour, which could ruin the plans for the 5th T20I. As the day progresses, the probability of precipitation will increase to 80% with a cloud cover of 95%.

Towards late evening, the probability of thunderstorm is around 16% and as a result, the players were swiftly taken off the ground despite visible rain.

India benefits if rain abandons 5th T20I

There is a marginal chance that the game could be ruined due to rain and lightning and if the match gets abandoned, it would benefit India as the Men in Blue already lead the series, 2-1, and the series will end in their favour if the match is called-off.

The first T20I was called off due to rain as the home side clinched the second game of the series. Meanwhile, India bounced back in the last two T20I matches as the Suryakumar Yadav-led side won back-to-back matches to take the lead in the series.
