Melbourne Renegades have entered history books as they chased down the highest successful run-chase in WBBL history. On Monday, November 11, the Renegades took on Adelaide Strikers at the Karen Rolton Oval in Adelaide. 

In the recently concluded match, Melbourne chased down 186 runs in just 17.1 overs, which is the highest successful run-chase in the history of WBBL. The Renegades won the toss and asked the hosts to bat first.

Melbourne Renegades Chase Down The Highest Total In WBBL History

Adelaide, batting first, put just 185 runs on the board. Skipper Tahaila McGrath was the pick of the batters as she scored 49 (24), which featured eight fours and a solitary six. Further, Smriti Mandhana, too shone with the bat and scored 40 (25), which included seven fours.

In reply, the Renegades got off to a flying start and Hayler Matthews scored an unbeaten 85(54) in the historic run-chase. Her knock featured 12 fours and two sixes. Meanwhile, her opening partner, Courtney Webb was also going strong but unfortunately had to retire hurt after scoring 37 (29), which featured six fours.

Deandra Dottin And Hayley Mathews Star For WBBL

Nonetheless, Deandra Dottin provided the finishing touch as she scored a quickfire 46 (18) to seal the win for the Renegades. With the win, Renegades have climbed to second on the points table with eight points in seven matches. Meanwhile, Adelaide are struggling in this season and are still in search of their second win. 

The Strikers are placed last on the points table with just a solitary win and two points.

Notably, Melbourne have broken Sydney Sixers's record of highest successful run-chase, which was broken this season only after Sydney chased down 179/7 vs Melbourne Renegades, on October 27.
