GT beat RCB by 8 wickets to register a dominant victory in the IPL 2025 season. RCB lost crucial wickets in a cluster, which restricted them to 169 run total in the first inning. Meanwhile, in the second inning, Sai Sudharsan's 49 and Jos Buttler’s half-century powered Titans to a commanding 8-wicket win.
Here’s how RCB vs GT panned out in Bengaluru:
Siraj Sets Chinnaswamy On Fire With Stunning Bowling Figure
GT won the toss and asked RCB to bat first. However, opener Virat Kohli fell prey to Arshad Khan. A mistimed pull shot and a safe catch by Prasidh Krishna left RCB fans in shock. But this was just the beginning of Bengaluru’s misery as their former fast bowler Mohammed Siraj breathed fire with the ball.
Siraj first dismissed Devdutt Padikkal as the batter was outfoxed by a seam-in delivery and saw his stumps flying. Moreover, the pacer had a mini-battle against Phil Salt. He hit him for a maximum in the 5th over before Siraj bowled a 144 kph delivery to destroy his stumps. With those crucial blows, RCB were reduced to 35/3 in the powerplay.
Livingstone Guides RCB To Competitive Total
After captain Rajat Patidar also walked back cheaply, Liam Livingstone and Jitesh Sharma did some recovery. They had a 52-run partnership for the fifth wicket. Livingstone slammed a crucial half-century, hitting 54 off 40 balls. Tim David contributed with a quick 32 off 18 balls as RCB finished with a competitive total of 169 runs.
Meanwhile, for GT, Mohammed Siraj delivered his best spell at M.Chinnaswamy Stadium, picking up 3 wickets for 19 runs in 4 overs. Sai Kishore also helped him with 2 wickets in his economical spell.
Shubman Gill Falls Early But Sudharsan Gives GT An Edge
Gujarat Titans didn’t have a great start in the second inning as captain Shubman Gill threw his wicket away in the powerplay. Bhuvneshwar Kumar bowled a full delivery with a hint of movement outside off. It tempted Gill into a big hit, but he only managed a thick edge which flew straight to Livingstone at deep backward point.
However, Sai Sudharsan extended his sublime form to slam 49 off 36 balls, missing his half-century by only a single run. He and Jos Buttler knitted a 75-run partnership to dominate RCB bowlers fair and square.
Jos Buttler Buries RCB’s Bowling Attack As GT Wins Big
After Sudharsan departed in the 13th over, Jos Buttler pressed gears with his blazing strokes. He took RCB bowlers to the cleaners, slamming 73* off just 39 balls, including 5 boundaries and 6 maximums. Sherfane Rutherford supported him from the other end to contribute 30* off 18 balls. RCB failed to click wickets as GT chased down the total in 17.5 overs to secure a commanding 8-wicket win.
