In an unfortunate development, rain picked up at Manuka Oval, Canberra on Wednesday (October 29) when India and Australia were up against each other during the first T20I of the five-match series. Only five overs were bowled before the groundsmen rushed to the venue in order to cover the pitch, as well as other part of the stadium.

More significantly, the interruption happened just after a spectacular six by India captain Suryakumar Yadav, who has been in torrid form for a while before coming to this fixture. India, at the time of the break, reached 43/1 at the end of five overs, with Abhishek Sharma losing his wicket after a quickfire 14-ball 19.

India's Test and ODI captain Shubman Gill is batting on 16 off 9 balls, while SKY is on 8 off 7 balls, thanks to that spectacular maximum.

However, as per Accuweather, there is not much to worry about for fans. At this point, the probability of precipitation stands at 20%, with cloud cover being 89%. Hence, it is safe to assume that there won't be much of a delay before the action resumes.

India are coming to this fixture after a 2-1 ODI series defeat in Australia. Nevertheless, they came back strongly in the final match, with Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli making fans nostalgic with a vintage performance.

As a reward, Rohit moved to the top of the ICC ODI batting rankings, while Kohli too breathed a sigh of relief after consecutive ducks in the first two games.

This will be a delicious five-match T20I series between India and Australia, with the tour concluding on November 8. The second, third, fourth and fifth T20Is will take place on October 31, November 2, November 6 and November 8 respectively.

At the time of writing, the match is about to resume at 3 PM IST, with the revised playing conditions being 18 overs per side, 3 bowlers can bowl a max of 4, 2 bowlers can bowl a max of 3 overs and Powerplay will be of 5.2 overs across both innings.

UPDATE: The match has been abandonded due to persistent rain with only 58 balls possible at the Manuka Oval, Canberra.
