32-year-old Shreyas Iyer was born in Chembur, Bombay (now Mumbai) in 1994. Born in a middle-class family, Iyer rose to the ranks thanks to Shreyas’s father, Santosh Iyer and mother, Rohini Iyer’s dedication to making him the strong person he is at present. 

Originally from Thrissur, Kerala, Shreyas Iyer’s father played an important role in making him a cricketer. Moreover, his mother’s support in making his cricket career cannot be underestimated.

In a 13-minute documentary titled "Shreyas Iyer — A father's dream", shot after Shreyas’ explosive debut IPL season, the batter spoke about his father, Santosh Iyer’s, profound dream of him becoming a famous cricketer and supported this aspiration from his early childhood, picking up a bat at age four.
