As the PSL 2024 caravan continues, Multan Sultans will face Peshawar Zalmi for the ninth scheduled fixture at Multan Cricket Stadium on Friday from 7.30 PM onwards. While the Zalmi are desperate to open up their points tally, the Sultans are seated right at the top of the table with a 100% win record.

Mohammad Rizwan-led Multan Sultan crushed the defending champions, Lahore Qalandars, in the previous PSL 2024 season fixture. The Qalandars thought they could make a match out of 166 first-innings in total.

But the skipper, Rizwan, stood tall for his team and kept the flow of runs active from one end. After scoring 82 runs, the captain perished with over 50 runs still required to win.

Multan Sultans looked in a fix until veteran finisher Iftikhar Ahmed unleashed carnage. He slammed 24 runs in Zaman Khan’s final over to seal victory for his side with six balls to spare.

As the Multan crowd stood up in awe, Rizwan breathed a sigh of relief as his team’s undefeated record this season stayed untouched. 

That being said, the Sultans will start as favorites against Peshawar Zalmi, who are still searching for their maiden season win.

Babar Azam led Peshawar Zalmi’s struggle is never-ending. They are yet to taste victory this PSL 2024 season despite a strong performance from the captain. 

In the latest fixture against Karachi Kings, the Zalmi posted a low total of 154 runs, which was too little for big man Kieron Pollard. 

That being said, Peshawar needs to fix a lot of things. For starters, the middle order needs to support the skipper at the top. A lot depends on Mohammad Haris, who has struggled to find his groove so far. 

Moreover, highly regarded youngster Saim Ayub is succumbing under pressure to exceed expectations. The kid needs to play his natural game and support his captain. Asif Ali is again someone who must rediscover his old self.
