The Big Bash League (BBL) 2025-26 season has just begun, and Pakistan star Shaheen Afridi, who brought in a lot of hustle-bustle along with him after being roped in by Brisbane Heat this season, failed miserably.

Afridi, who was favoured as one of the highest wicket-takers in the match for Heat, had a terrible campaign opener with the ball as he conceded 43 runs from his 2.4 overs. With the bat too, coming in at number 9, Afridi failed for a duck, despite being otherwise known for his good hitting prowess in franchise cricket leagues such as the PSL.

Afridi removed after 'dangerous' bowling

Afridi was given the ball in the 2nd over, where he conceded 9 runs, and also came into the attack after the powerplay in the 13th over, where he gave away 19 runs to the Renegades.

However, the unfortunate incident happened after he bowled three no-balls in the 18th over, already conceding 17 runs from his four deliveries.

Afridi threw down dangerous beamers with two waist-high full tosses to the batter in the same over. This led the team remove him from bowling abruptly, as Nathan McSweeney was called in to bowl the final two deliveries to complete the proceedings.
