Young Pakistani bowler Mehran Mumtaz smashed a 20-ball half-century batting for Rawalpindi in the ongoing National T20 Cup 2025. The batter who came in at number nine, played a blinder against Faisalabad in the losing cause.

Mehran Mumtaz Smashes T20 Fifty Off 20 Deliveries

In the National T20 Cup 2025, the match between Faisalabad and Rawalpindi at the Iqbal stadium in Faisalabad saw an extraordinary innings by the number nine batter, Mehran Mumtaz, who wreaked havoc with the bat. The Faisalabad side batted first and scored a mammoth total of 207 for the loss of three wickets, with Awais Zafar scoring a 55-ball 87*.

In reply, the Rawalpindi side fell pale as they lost their seven wickets for just 119, with too much left to be done. In came Mumtaz, who before this match had figures of 56 runs in 12 matches at an average of just 5.6, while his strike rate was 140.28 in T20 cricket.

Mehran, who has never scored a half-century in his life, smashed the 50 in just 20 deliveries and went on to score 51 off 24 in the end as Rawalpindi were eventually bowled out for 183 in 19.2 overs, losing the match by 24 runs. But, Mehran's innings stood out as he smashed 7 fours and 2 sixes while striking at an unbelievable 212.50.

Moreover, this was just the 14th time a batter has managed to score a half-century in T20 cricket after batting at a position of number nine or lower.

Mehran Set To Play For Peshawar Zalmi In PSL 2025

The left-arm spinner, who bowls a decent line, has already featured for the Peshawar Zalmi side alongside Babar Azam in the Pakistan Super League previously in the 2024 edition, where he was able to feature in five matches and managed to grab five scalps at an economy of 6.63.

The Peshawar Zalmi side will open their account against Quetta Gladiator in the PSL season 10 as both the sides will lock horns on 12th of April from 2:30 PM IST whereas Islamabad United will take on Lahore Qalandars in the season opener on 11th April.
