IPL 2025 is set to start on March 22, with RCB taking on KKR in the curtain-raiser match. Meanwhile, this article will focus on Gujarat Titans, who are eyeing their 2nd IPL title.

For the upcoming season, Gujarat have made several changes and worked hard at the IPL 2025 mega-auction. They bought players in every department to bring a balance to the team. Meanwhile, this article will rate Gujarat Titans' batting order.

We will rate Gujarat's batting unit in three parts. First, look at the top-order batters, middle-order players, and finishers.

Rating Gujarat's Top-Order

For the opening slot or to bat at No3, Gujarat have three options- Shubman Gill, Jos Buttler, and Sai Sudharsan. Till 2024, Gill and Sudharsan used to open the innings, but with incoming of Jos Buttler, Sai will now bat at No.3.

It looks a solid top-order and it wouldn't be wrong to say that GT have one of the most lethal top-order among all teams. Buttler needs no introduction as the former England skipper has the 3rd most runs in a season (863) while opening the innings.

Talking about Buttler being third on the list, the 2nd spot is taken by his new opening partner Shubman Gill, who smashed 890 runs as an opener in IPL 2023.

Lets Look at Stats of all three players

Rating - 9.5/10

With such stats, GT have found great top-order attack and they deserve a 9.5 rating out of 10.

Rating Gujarat's Middle-Order

GT have plethora of options in the middle-order, but they lack the power-hitter that they are searching for. Let's look at all middle-order options for GT. They have Glenn Phillips, Shahrukh Khan, Mahipal Lomrar, and Anuj Rawat. These four-players are the main stars and likely to get most of the matches in IPL 2025 in the middle-order for LSG

For back-ups, GT have roped in former DC star Kumar Kushagra, Nishant Sindhu, but it is unlikely that they get any matches. Thus, lets look at the stats of these four stars.

Rating Middle Order- 5/10

The middle-order isn't looking very promising for Gujarat Titans as they lack big names and great potentials, who can put on the aggressive role in case of a positive start and also play an anchor role in case of an early collapse. Another thing is that GT's middle-order lacks experience.

Rating GT's Lower Middle-Order/ Finishers

In the lower middle-order, GT have the likes of Sherfane Rutherford, Washington Sundar, and Rahul Tewatia. For back-up, they also have Jayant Yadav, but he is unlikely to get game time. Lets look at the stats of the three stars and how have they performed as finishers in IPL.

Rating Lower Middle-Order : 6/10

Gujarat have worked on their top-order but their lower middle-order is a big concern as they lack genuine big names and power hitters who can score runs .

Conclusion

The overall rating for Gujarat Titans' batting-order would be 6.5/10. They have great top-order batting, but they won't be able to perform in every match. In such situation a team would look to rely on their middle-order batters, but GT lack in that area of the game.
