Babar Azam registered yet another batting failure, this time doing so in a National T20 Cup 2025 game for Lahore Blues on Tuesday, March 18. After undergoing a series of low scores for Pakistan in the recently-concluded 2025 ICC Champions Trophy and the preceding ODI tri-series at home, the legendary ‘Men in Green’ batter managed to list just 22 runs in a chase of 172 against Karachi Whites.

Opening the innings alongside Umar Siddique, Babar’s early setback sparked a slew of wickets in the middle and lower-order as Lahore Blues slumped to a 37-run defeat in match number 13 of the National T20 Cup 2025 at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.

Babar Azam fails to anchor for Lahore Blues

Babar Azam was recently snubbed by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) from Pakistan’s ongoing T20I tour of New Zealand after suffering a below-par batting campaign in the home ODI tri-nation series and in the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy.

In his first appearance for Lahore Blues in the 2025 National T20 Cup in Lahore, the legendary Pakistani batter sustained another setback, this time failing to take his team to victory in a run-chase of 172 against Karachi Whites.

Babar Azam managed to score just 22 runs off 17 deliveries with three boundaries before falling to Karachi Whites bowler Danish Aziz.

While Babar Azam was excluded from Pakistan’s T20I series against New Zealand, the 30-year-old will join his national teammates in New Zealand for the upcoming three-match ODI series.

Soon after the New Zealand tour, the legendary Pakistani batter will lead the Peshawar Zalmi franchise in the upcoming PSL 2025 season in Pakistan.
