In the latest development, the toss for the third T20I between Sri Lanka and Pakistan has been delayed due to heavy rain in Dambulla. Even before the contest, there were rain predictions for the evening, and it came true as the entire ground was covered with both sets of players waiting for the match to begin.

Heavy thunderstorm, alongside plenty of rain, was predicted for Sunday, and this has hampered the T20 World Cup preparations for both Sri Lanka and Pakistan, as the series was all about testing their team combinations and bench strengths before the marquee event.

The current temperature in Dambulla, Sri Lanka, is around 21 degrees Celsius, and while there is only an 11 percent chance of rain in the evening, the cloud cover is around 66%. Sri Lanka is an unpredictable country, and the weather changes in the blink of an eye; and while the evenings were supposed to be clear, things turned out differently.

According to Accuweather, the weather will turn bad as the day progresses, as the probability of rain will increase as we approach nighttime. Hence, the toss is delayed and there is unpredictability surrounding the start of the game in Dambulla.

How rain in successive games affect Pakistan-Sri Lanka

The T20 World Cup is set to take place next month in India and Sri Lanka, and the 3-match T20I series between the two sides was a great chance for Pakistan to get used to the Sri Lankan conditions. Pakistan dominated the first T20I match, and they would have ideally liked to finish the series on a high, but the Dambulla weather has ruined their plans.

For Sri Lanka, the series was a chance to stamp their authority in home conditions before the World Cup, but with the second T20I abandoned, and the toss delayed for the series finale, the Lankan Lions have hardly had an ideal preparation for the marquee event, next month.
