England have dealt another heavy blow as their star seamer Mark Wood has been ruled out of the remainder of the Sri Lanka series because of a Thigh injury.

Wood was already looking doubtful for the remainder of the first Test after he faced discomfort in his thigh muscle on day 3 of the first Test. Wood immediately went to the dressing room after bowling his 2nd ball of the 11th over and Joe Root had to complete that over.

Later in the day, ECB confirmed that Wood would not take the field on day 4 because of his thigh injury.

"England Men's pace bowler Mark Wood has been ruled out of the remainder of the Rothesay Test series against Sri Lanka after scans confirmed a right thigh muscle strain," read ECB's statement.

The Ollie Pope-led side were fortunate that they did not miss Wood's services on day 4 and registered a comfortable five-wicket win against Sri Lanka to lead the three-match Test series 1-0.

Josh Hull Named Replacement

England have named left-arm seamer Josh Hull as Wood's replacement for the remainder of the series. The 20-year-old is yet to make his England debut, but one of the noticeable things about Hull is his height as he stands 6ft 7 in tall.

ECB also posted videos of Josh wreaking havoc in domestic cricket.

England will face Sri Lanka for the 2nd Test on August 29 at Lord's.
