From thinking about IPL 2025 playoff qualification scenario to being in top 2 of the points table, Mumbai Indians have come a long way in the 2025 edition. They started slowly in the tournament but have now won 5 matches in a row to suddenly become the favourites to lift the title.

MI etch name in history books

On Sunday, the Hardik Pandya led side thrashed Lucknow Super Giants in a one-sided contest to enter the top 2 of the table and with that, they also created history and achieved a feat never seen before.

They became the first team in IPL history to win 150 matches in the league, and their rivals, Chennai Super Kings stand at the second place. The MS Dhoni led side have won 140 matches, with a win percentage of 56.45. On the other hand, MI have a win percentage of 54.24.

MI is at first place and another five-time IPL winners, CSK sit at second spot. The three-time champions, Kolkata Knight Riders occupy the third spot with 133 victories to their name.

MI thrash LSG

LSG won the toss and Rishabh Pant decided to put MI into bat and the decision was instantly regretted as MI batters, particularly, Ryan Rickelton was at his best. The MI opener smacked a fifty and Suryakumar Yadav, the new Orange Cap holder, too, slammed a majestic fifty as MI posted 215/7.

In reply, LSG lost a flurry of wickets but Mitch Marsh kept his team in the run-chase. However, with his dismissal, their batting crumbled. Jasprit Bumrah was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 4 for 22 in 4.
