England swashbuckling opener Phil Salt got off to a great start in the fifth and final ODI against Australia at Seat Unique Stadium, Bristol on September 29. Australia, having won the toss, opted to bowl first. With a sharp contest in sight, Salt wasted no time, dispatching the first ball of the match for a boundary.

What made this moment even more exciting was that the delivery came from his Kolkata Knight Riders teammate, Mitchell Starc.

Mitchell Starc bowled a full delivery with a hint of shape back into the middle stump. However, Salt remained unfazed. Positioned well with two slips in place, he leaned into the shot and elegantly drove the ball through extra cover for a glorious four.

Phil Salt Departs After Scoring 45 Runs

However, later in the match, Phil Salt's innings came to an end after a well-played 45 runs. It was the 7th over when Aaron Hardie managed to outsmart Salt. A fielder was strategically placed at deep backward point, and Salt, in an attempt to drive a full and wide delivery outside off-stump, sliced it straight to Marnus Labuschagne. Labuschagne made a brilliant diving catch to get the big wicket.

At the time of writing, England are at 87-2 in 14 overs, with Ben Duckett (37*) and Harry Brook (19*) at the crease, trying to build a steady partnership.
