Shubman Gill's Valiant Fifty Gets India Going In Mumbai Test
After bowling New Zealand out for 235 in the first innings, India had a horrible start to their innings, losing four wickets for 84 runs. However, Shubman Gill helped the hosts bounce back, forming a valuable partnership with swashbuckling keeper-batter Rishabh Pant.
The duo added 96 runs for the fifth wicket, rescuing India from a precarious position. Gill, who was dropped on 45 by Mark Chapman, eventually brought up his fifty in style. Regarded as the next big thing in Indian cricket, Gill thus surpassed Cheteshwar Pujara's tally of 1769 runs to claim the fourth position on the list of elite Indian batters.
