On Day 4 of the ongoing Boxing Day Test between South Africa and Pakistan, the Proteas gained control and momentum of the match. However, Mohammad Abbas had different plans as he delivered a moment of brilliance, breaking a crucial partnership and giving his team a much-needed breakthrough.

South Africa had made a strong start to the day, with Aiden Markram and Temba Bavuma  building a solid foundation for the chase. The duo had put together a resilient 43-run partnership off 94 balls.

However, Pakistan’s persistence finally paid off when Mohammad Abbas struck with a delivery that left Aiden Markram helpless.

Abbas had been patient and probing throughout the morning on Day 4, finally found the breakthrough that Pakistan desperately needed. He delivered a length ball on off-stump. The ball snuck underneath Markram's bat, and crashed into the off stump  sending the bails flying. The low bounce and movement off the seam had caught Markram off guard, that left  him stranded as he failed to adjust in time.

The standout moment of the wicket was the reaction from Abbas. After delivering a perfect delivery to dislodge Markram, he was visibly pumped up, clearly aware of the importance of the breakthrough. He let out a roar of triumph as he turned away, delivering an angry send-off to Markram.

The wicket could be game-changing moment, as it ended the partnership and shifted the momentum back in Pakistan’s favour. At the time of writing, South Africa needs 33 runs to win the match and on the other hand Pakistan needs 2 wickets.
