Pakistan got off to a brilliant start on day 3 of the Boxing Day Test against South Africa as Babar Azam and Saud Shakeel stitched a 79-runs stand for the fourth wicket to put Pakistan in lead for the first time in this Test. However, the hosts bounced back as Marco Jansen took quick wickets.

Notably, Pakistan were 153/3 at one point and lost next three wickets for just 23 runs. Babar Azam, Salman Ali Agha and Mohammad Rizwan were the ones to depart in short interval. Talking about Rizwan, the keeper-batter is having a hard time to score runs as he fell prey to Marco Jansen on one of his worst delivery.

Rizwan Departs Cheaply

On the last ball of the 41st over, Marco Jansen bowled one down the leg-side, but Rizwan tried to flick it further towards the leg side for a four. However, he found the faintest of edges and keeper made no mistake behind the wicket.

Rizwan walked back to the dressing room in disappointment as he scored just 3 (7). Meanwhile, Shan Masood too hogged the internet after he was captured being frustrated by the mode of dismissal. Watch the incident here.

Rizwan Having A Boxing Day Test To Forget

Rizwan got off to a good start in the first innings as he scored 27 (32), but then threw his wicket away. However, Rizwan has had a great 2024 in red-ball cricket as he amassed 539 runs in 13 innings.

Rizwan has averaged 44.91 in 2024, which includes a century and two fifties. At the time of writing this article, Pakistan are 212/8 and have a lead of 122 runs.
