Babar disappointed after Salman's dismissal [Source: @gavaskar_theman/X.Com]
After ages, Babar Azam looked good in whites as the elegant batter played some delightful strokes and looked set for a big total on Day 3 of the first Test Vs South Africa. However, he couldn't go on to achieve big runs as Pakistan lost the momentum after his dismissal.
Pakistan lost three quick wickets in their second innings as the side looked in a precarious situation. However, Babar, alongside Saud Shakeel resurrected the innings and notched up their respective half-centuries. Interestingly, this was Babar's first fifty-plus score in Tests in 2 years.
However, just after breaching the 50-run mark, Babar played a false shot and it led to his demise as he looked disappointed after walking off. Disaster struck as Mohammad Rizwan and Agha Salman, too, departed in quick successions. Seeing Agha Salman's dismissal, Babar hid his face as he realised that his dismissal triggered the collapse.
The dismissal of Agha Salman was also the fifth-wicket in the innings for Marco Jansen, who bowled with guile and pace as he troubled the visiting batters to grab a fifer.
Pakistan eyeing a 200-run lead
At the moment, Pakistan lead by 122 runs and have lost 8 wickets. All eyes will be on Saud Shakeel as the dashing batter is batting on 64. However, he is running out of partners as Pakistan have lost all specialised batters.
The team will hope that they can somehow extend the lead to 200-runs, as the wicket is still helpful for the pace bowlers and Pakistan have quality pacers to trouble the Proteas batters in the fourth innings chase.
