In the second T20I match between India and Australia, the hosts put forward a commanding win over the Men in Blue. While the first match was washed out due to rain, the second game was a rather disappointing one for the Men in Blue. The batting line-up fell like a pack of cards, and the bowlers seemed to have no clue about the pitch conditions. Australia were terrific with both bat and ball as they clinched victory with four wickets to spare.

Abhishek Sharma slams blistering half-century

India’s batting failure started when they lost four quick wickets within the powerplays, starting with Shubman Gill (5), followed by Sanju Samson (2), Suryakumar Yadav (1), Tilak Varma (0), and Axar Patel (7). However, 25-year-old young batter Abhishek Sharma stood his ground from the other end, scoring a stunning 68 off a 37-ball knock to help India put up 125 runs on the board.

He got support from Harshit Rana, who scored 35 off 33 balls, including three boundaries and one six. Meanwhile, Josh Hazlewood was phenomenal with the ball, claiming three crucial wickets while Xavier Bartlett and Nathan Ellis picked up two wickets each.

Mitchell Marsh’s power-packed performance help Australia

With just 126 runs to chase, the Australian openers started off on a great note. Travis Head and Mitchell Marsh formed a solid partnership of 51 in 4.2 overs. However, as soon as Varun Chakaravarthy was introduced, Head was dismissed on just 28 off 15 balls. Marsh stayed for a while but missed out on his half-century by four runs as he fell prey to Kuldeep Yadav.

India's star bowler Jasprit Bumrah claimed two consecutive wickets to put pressure on the hosts. Despite being six wickets down, Marcus Stoinis stayed composed and helped Australia register a dominant win over Team India in the second T20I.  With this, they have taken a lead in the series, 1-0.
