India are all set to tour Australia for three ODIs and five T20Is, and the excitement around the series is increasing with each passing day. The series sees a return of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma in ODIs, and one can expect quality cricket throughout the course of the tour.
The Aussies are known for their mischievous nature and mind games before big tours, and this time too, they have started with a cheeky dig at India. In a video released on the official X handle of the Kayo Sports, the famous duo who run the podcast called Grade Cricketer are seen with Australian men and women cricketers.
Australia start mind games with cheeky reference to IND-PAK handshake tussle
It starts with one of the hosts talking about India's awaited arrival in Australia and how they have identified the weakness of the Men in Blue.
"We all know India's on their way, but we have identified one critical weakness".
The other one states that we all know that Indians are not fans of traditional greetings, indirectly referring to the handshake refusal saga between India and Pakistan in the Asia Cup. Indian players refused to shake hands with the Pakistan players in the continental tournament after the Pahalgam terror attack and cross-border tensions between the two countries.
"Now, we know that they are not huge fans of traditional greeting, so we can throw them off before they even bowl a ball".
Australian superstars provide unique warning to India
The Aussies, though, saw the funny side of it, and the big players like Glenn Maxwell, Josh Hazlewood, Mitchell Marsh, Alyssa Healy combined to suggest an alternative to the handshake.
Glenn Maxwell, with his younger Australian member, came with an unusual joining of hands. Mitchell Marsh brought in Travis Head's finger in the ice cup gesture. Alyssa Healy and Alana King, on the other hand, went with 'healing hands' action, while Josh Hazlewood came up with a 'shooter' act.
All of these were done in light-spirit by Australian cricketers, and it is part of their build-up and mind games ahead of the India tour. Indian cricketers, though, would be hoping that they reply on the cricket field by winning the match and end with a nice warm handshake.
