Mitchell Marsh, the Australian T20I captain will miss the second game against England due to illness. In his place, Travis Head will lead the team. Marsh was on a superb run as the Aussie captain, but he will have to sit out as Australia look to seal the series.

The England side won the toss and elected to bowl first as they look to take revenge of the loss suffered in the first match.

The year 2024 has not been kind to Mitch Marsh. The Aussie all-rounder suffered from hamstring issues in the IPL 2024, and as a result, he didn’t bowl for Australia in the T20 World Cup.

Now, with Australia on a confident run of form, he gets unwell and sits out of this crucial match. Interestingly, this will be the first time that Head will lead Australia in any form of the game.

Head was at his destructive best in the first T20I at the Rose Bowl. The opener slammed a terrific fifty and took 30 runs off Sam Curran’s over as Australia defeated England heavily.

He will look to continue his good form with the bat and now has the added responsibility of leading the side.

Hazlewood, Bartlett also miss out in 2nd T20I

Not only Marsh, but Josh Hazlewood also misses out. The team wants to experiment and the leader of the pace attack will miss this crucial contest. Another player who will miss out is Xavier Bartlett. He suffered from a side strain while bowling in the first T20I and the Aussie team management are not taking any risk with his injury.

"Overnight scans revealed Bartlett sustained a side strain while bowling in the first game. He has been ruled out for the remaining two matches. Ben Dwarshuis will join the squad for the final T20 match in Manchester."

England cannot afford to lose the game. They have an inexperienced squad, but will look to take revenge from the first T20I.
