Mitchell Marsh Injured? Australia Captain Unlikely To Bowl In T20I Series Vs England
Marsh not to bowl vs England [x]
Australia's Mitchell Marsh has confirmed that he is unlikely to bowl in the upcoming T20I series against England, starting today. Speculations were that Marsh is injured and the team management are not putting him at any risk.
However, prior to the series, Marsh has stated that the Aussie side have plethora of all-rounders in the team, and his bowling can take a back-seat for the upcoming series. Marsh suffered from hamstring issues in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, and has since not bowled for the Australian team.
He even skipped bowling for Australia in the recently concluded T20 World Cup. Interestingly, the Aussie side have taken a plenty of all-rounders in the current T20I team, and it allows Marsh to fully focus on his batting, rather than doing dual role.
Speaking to reporters in Southampton, Marsh said, “I’m sort of just building. I don’t tend to bowl myself too much, is the honest answer, and we’re lucky that we’ve got plenty of bowling options within our team, so we’ll see how we go. My bowling’s on line: whether or not I bowl, we’ll wait and see. We’ve got heaps of options. I’m always building something.”
Australia have carried power-packed all-rounders for England series
Australia have taken an inexperienced team for the series against England. They have rested regular ODI skipper, Pat Cummins, to manage his workload, and other senior pacer, Mitch Starc is also rested for the T20I series.
However, the team bolsters power-packed all-rounders like Aaron Hardie, Cameron Green and Cooper Connolly, and as a result, they have plenty of bowling and batting options.
The team has an explosive top and middle-order and they certainly start as the favourites against the home team, England, who will be without Jos Buttler. The England white-ball skipper suffered an injury prior to the series and was ruled out.
