In an unexpected twist at the Alur grounds on Friday, September 22, Karnataka delivered a stunning performance against the Asian Games-bound Indian team.

Clinical Karnataka outplays India's second-string Asian Games team

Batting first, the second-string Indian side failed to establish a firm ground, with Karnataka's bowlers giving them a tough time.

The Indian team found itself on the back foot, getting dismissed for a paltry 133 runs, thanks to the disciplined bowling from Karnataka. Karnataka pacers, in particular, shone through, denying the Indian batters any scoring opportunities.

 V. Koushik emerged as one of the standouts, registering impressive figures of 3/36. However, it was Manoj Bhandage who stole the limelight with a splendid 4/15. The spin department also played its part, with left-arm spinner Shubhang Hegde recording a three-wicket haul of 3/17.

From the national side, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Prabhsimran Singh did show some resistance. While Jaiswal got off to a start with a score of 31, Singh came close to his half-century but was dismissed at 49.

As Karnataka chased the total, their batters seemed comfortably in charge. The Indian team's bowlers struggled with their accuracy, making the task even more accessible for the state team. Veteran Manish Pandey showcased his class, remaining not out at 52, and led Karnataka to a victory in just 19.1 overs.

This warm-up game against Karnataka has certainly given the national side a lot to ponder as they gear up for the Asian Games in Hangzhou, China.
