In an another big loss for Delhi Capitals, the star South African batter Faf du Plessis has made himself unavailable for the remainder of IPL 2025. Along with Faf, Donovan Ferreira, another South African has pulled out of the season, and it leaves DC seriously short of overseas talent with Mitchell Starc and Jake Fraser-McGurk already opting out.
DC Continue To Lose Overseas Stars Ahead Of IPL 2025 Resumption
The revelation has been made through a report by Cricinfo, and DC now have only three overseas players - Sediquallah Atal, Tristan Stubbs and Dushmatha Chameera. They have signed Mustafizur Rahman as replacement for Jake Fraser-McGurk, but he is yet to get NOC from the Bangladesh board, putting his participation in serious doubt.
Thus, with not many overseas players left in the arsenal, Delhi Capitals might have to opt for more replacement players. They are still in with a chance to qualify for the playoffs with 13 points in 11 matches, and thus would be hoping to put their best foot forward in the upcoming games.
Delhi Capitals' Playoff Route Gets More Tricky
Delhi Capitals started the season with a bang, but lost the way in the second half, putting themselves in a tricky position. Now, the loss of senior players like Faf du Plessis and Mitchell Starc are not available and thus DC would find it even more though to make that much-awaited entry into the playoffs.
All other teams have also been affected by the change in schedule after the suspension of a week. Some of the players would leave the franchise after the playoff stage, and franchises have opted for temporary replacement players as a last-minute solution.
