India are up against South Africa in the second T20I of the four match series at the St. George's Park. After putting on a dominating show in the first match, the visitors were seeking another win to seal the series before the final game. However, South Africa announced themselves with storng bowling show and put India under pressure after the first innings.
Sanju Samson Registes An Unwanted Record
Aiden Markram won the second toss of the series and once again put India to bat. The hopes were high on Sanju who registered a brilliant century in the first match and became the first Indian batter to score two consecutive Hundreds in T20Is. However, Marco Jansen accounted for the aggressive keeper-batter in the first over. Samson fell for a three ball duck and with that registered a unwanted record to his name.
This duck is the fourth for Sanju Samson in T20Is in 2024. This is the most by any Indian batter in a calendar year. His four ducks came against Afghanistan in Bengaluru, two against Sri Lanka in Pallekel and one in this game against South Africa.

Hardik Pandya Saves The Day For India
Coming back to the match, the early loss of Sanju Samson put India under a lot of pressure. The top order collapsed without any significant contribution. It was Hardik Pandya who fought for the team and scored unebaten 39 off 45 deliveres to take the team's total to a competitive score on an apparently difficult batting track.
