Sri Lanka have been playing good cricket, and their good run-of-form seems to be getting with each passing game. New Zealand are currently in the Island country for the white-ball tour and are in trouble in the second T20I after losing the first game of the series.
The Lankans won the toss and decided to bowl first and Nuwan Thushara got the wicket on the very first ball. However, it was Wanindu Hasaranga who displayed his class again and ran through the batting line-up with a brilliant four-wicket haul. Hasaranga was struggling with his left hamstring during his spell, but that did not affect his bowling and the leg-spinner continued the good work done by Thushara.
New Zealand Shot Down For 108 In 2nd T20I
He grabbed two wickets in the seventh over and it were big wickets of Glenn Phillips and Michael Bracewell. In his next over, he cleaned up wicketkeeper batter Mitch Hay and then got rid of well-set Will Young to stop New Zealand from getting back into the game. It was a classical Wanindu Hasaranga performance where he gave away just 17 runs in his four overs and bowled a maiden as well. He is now second in the list of most four-wicket hauls for Sri Lanka in T20Is. He has 4 four-wicket hauls while Ajanta Mendis tops the list with 5 four wicket-hauls.
Along with Hasaranga, Pathirana too displayed his class at the death and bagged three wickets to shot down New Zealand for just 108 in the second and final game of the series. In the first match of the series too, Hasaranga and Pathirana picked two wickets apiece and Sri Lanka look set to whitewash New Zealand who came into this series on the back of a historic series win against India in the longest format.
