The 2nd T20I between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh at the Rangiri Stadium saw the hosts put the Tigers in to bat first. Bangladesh lost two early wickets, but captain Litton Das rose to the occasion and led his side from the front.

Das, who has been under scrutiny for his recent poor run with the bat, returned to form as the keeper-batter scored a 39-ball fifty—his first since the 2024 T20 World Cup. The 30-year-old, who started his innings cautiously, reached the milestone in style with a six.

Litton's previous fifty-plus score came during the 2024 T20 World Cup against Afghanistan, where he scored an unbeaten 54 off 49 balls.

Litton Das Inches Closer to Shakib Al Hasan's Record

With this fifty, Litton now has 12 T20I fifties, the second-most in Bangladesh’s history. The 30-year-old is now just one fifty behind Shakib Al Hasan’s tally of 13. Here is the updated list of most fifties for Bangladesh in T20Is:

  • Shakib Al Hasan - 13
  • Litton Das - 12
  • Tamim Iqbal - 8
  • Mahmudullah - 8
  • Mushfiqur Rahim - 6

Litton Das Silences Critics

Recently appointed as T20I captain, Das faced considerable doubt regarding his form and leadership. However, this knock of 76 off 50 balls—which featured a solitary four and five sixes—will go a long way in silencing his critics.

Litton Das had been struggling, having been left out of Bangladesh’s ODI squad for the Champions Trophy 2025 due to poor batting form. In ODIs, he has played just one match recently and is yet to open his account. However, his T20I form has been much better, amassing 223 runs in 8 matches at an average of 27.87.

At the time of writing, Bangladesh were 177/7 at the mid-innings break in the 2nd T20I.
