Controversy erupts at Lord's over Root's LBW call (Source:@CricketAdd1ct/X.com)
The Lord's Test between England and India is turning more and more interesting with each passing session. The action moved at a slow pace in the initial three days, but the intense altercation during the final moments of Day 3 changed the mood of the game, and the intensity of the game has increased since then.
Joe Root Survives Close Call Against Siraj
There have been a number of sledging incidents, and an LBW decision in the 38th over in favour of Joe Root has again created a sense of frustration in the Indian camp. Mohammed Siraj delivered a full delivery on middle, and he managed to hit the pad as Root missed his shot. The big appeal followed, but the umpire did not respond positively.
Siraj, though, was confident, and India took the DRS. It looked out till the time Ball-Tracking came into the picture. The technology showed a big movement into the batter and it displayed that the ball would only clip the leg stump, saving Joe Root due to the Umpire's Call.
Gavaskar Questions Accuracy Of Technology
As soon as it flashed on the screen, Sunil Gavaskar, on air, expressed his frustration, saying that it is impossible that the ball is not hitting the leg stump completely. The former Indian opener's opinion was that the ball cannot deviate so much as the impact is between middle and off.
"The impact was between off and middle stump and you are saying that it is going to miss the leg stump? No way that the ball is going to move that much."
However, the final decision was made till then, and Joe Root survived. The incident, though, has again raised concerns over the accuracy of the Ball-Tracking system, which has often come under scrutiny in the past.
Joe Root, however, could not take advantage of that close call and fell at a score of 40 a few overs later.
