The Ashes 2025-26 is just about to begin as the first Test at Perth Optus Stadium is slated for November 21. The Australia and England teams, led by Steve Smith and Ben Stokes respectively, will see the hosts come with a set of injuries while the visitors' side remains much fitter.

Nevertheless, the series that witnessed 140 years of history with the greatest Test cricket rivalry between England and Australia, have also some major personal, as well as team records, that can be broken in the biennial five-match series.

As the teams fight to be the 'holder' of the urn, with the hosts currently retaining the trophy, let's take a look at the list of major records to be broken in the series.

1) 6th England team to return with the Ashes trophy after World War II

If England wins the Ashes 2025-26 Trophy, they will be one of the only six England teams to have returned with the urn since World War II. Interestingly, if Ben Stokes and Co. grab the trophy, they will also be the third team to take back the urn in the past 40 years from Australia.

2) Steve Smith set to become second-highest run-scorer in The Ashes

Steve Smith is on the verge of becoming the second-highest run-scorer in the Ashes. Currently, the stand-in keeper of Australia has 3,417 runs from 37 Ashes appearances. At an average of 56.01, he requires 220 runs to surpass Jack Hobbs of England and become the second-highest run-getter in the Ashes.

3) Joe Root might enter the 3000-run club in The Ashes

Joe Root is also on the verge of climbing up the ranks in the list of having the most runs in the prestigious series. Currently, Joe Root stands at 2,428 runs, however, from the five Test matches, if he is playing all of them, the England veteran batter could scale up 12 ranks to register himself in the 3,000-run club.

4) Joe Root is thirty 4s away from 300 boundaries in The Ashes

England veteran Joe Root is also 30 boundaries away from having 300 boundaries in the Ashes as he currently sits at a tally of 270 boundaries from 65 Ashes innings.

5) Ben Stokes to reach 200 boundaries and 2000-run landmark in The Ashes

Ben Stokes is just 26 boundaries away from completing 200 boundaries in the Ashes. Notably, Stokes is also 438 runs away from hitting 2,000 runs in the Ashes series after his 1562 runs from 45 Ashes innings with the bat.

6) Nathan Lyon to enter the top five highest wicket-taker club in The Ashes

Nathan Lyon is just 19 wickets away from entering the top five club of having the most wickets in the Ashes alongside names like Shane Warne, Glenn McGrath and Stuart Broad.

7) 100 wickets for Mitchell Starc in The Ashes

Mitchell Starc is just 3 wickets away from completing 100 wickets in the Ashes. He has played 22 Ashes Tests and bowls at an economy rate of 3.57 while having 4-wicket hauls and 5-wicket hauls to his name.

8) 100 wickets for Pat Cummins in The Ashes

Pat Cummins, who, if returns for the second Test against England and plays the rest of the series, will be available to scalp his 100 Test wickets in the Ashes.

9) Brendan Doggett will become third indigenous man to play for Australia in Tests

Brendan Doggett will become the third indigenous man to play for Australia in men's Tests, after Jason Gillespie and team-mate Scott Boland as he earned his maiden cap for the team in the first Test.

10) Mitchell Starc needs 13 wickets to dominate Wasim Akram's record

Mitchell Starc needs just 13 wickets in The Ashes 2025-26 series to overtake Wasim Akram as the most prolific left-arm fast bowler in the history of Test cricket. Wasim Akram has 414 wickets from 104 Tests while Starc currently has 402 wickets from 100 Test matches as a left-arm pacer.
