The high-voltage Ashes 2025 series is all set to begin on Friday, November 21. England and Australia will compete in the first Test of the 5-game series at the Perth Stadium at 7:50 AM IST.
Australia
Australia are paralysed with Pat Cummins, Sean Abbott and Josh Hazlewood out due to injuries. Jake Weatherald and Brendan Doggett will be making their debuts under the captaincy of Steve Smith.
While the void of seasoned pacers will be felt, Australia are ruthless in home conditions. And given their Ashes record in the past decade, the host team will certainly be the favourites.
England
On the other hand, England will be desperate to win the Ashes on Australian soil after failing to do so in the last decade. Ben Stokes will continue to lead, with Jofra Archer and Mark Wood leading the pace attack.
Joe Root must better his form in Down Under to make a difference for England. While the visitors are free from injury headaches for now, they'll still have a tough time adjusting to the Aussie conditions, especially in Perth.
AUS vs ENG head-to-head overview
Australia and England have a long and historic rivalry. The two teams have competed in a total of 361 games, out of which Australia won 152 Tests while England clinched victory in 112 games. 97 matches also ended in draws.
Perth Stadium pitch report
Perth Stadium offers the quickest pitch in Australia, making life tough for batters early on. The new ball zips around, and last year, both teams were bowled out for under 150 in the first innings.
However, the surface tends to settle after Day 1, allowing bigger scores once the shine wears off. Expect fast bowlers to dominate early, with batting becoming easier on Days 2 and 3. A classic pace-friendly Ashes opener awaits.
