In a phenomenal achievement, South African speedster Kwena Maphaka registered the best-ever bowling figure for his team against Australia in T20 Internationals. He attained the remarkable feat in the ongoing encounter between the two sides at Marrara Cricket Ground in Darwin.

Maphaka Shines For South Africa Amid David's Rescue Act

After South African captain Aiden Markram won the toss and opted to bowl first, the visitors pushed Australia down on the mat, with Kagiso Rabada's twin strikes leaving the hosts in a disarray.

Kwena Maphaka took two crucial catches to dismiss Travis Head and Mitchell Marsh before castling Mitchell Owen. He further went on to get rid of Tim David, Ben Dwarshuis and Adam Zampa, bringing up a sensational four-wicket haul.

His four for 20 in the first T20I in Darwin is now the best-ever bowling spell by a South African against Australia in the shortest format.

Kyle Abbott, Imran Tahir, David Wiese, Andrew Hall and Robin Peterson have three-fers against the Aussies, with the legendary Dale Steyn claiming the seventh place with a best figure of 3 for 38.

Despite Maphaka's impressive outing, Australia managed to post a challenging 178 run total, thanks to Tim David's batting masterclass. While the RCB finisher hammered 83 runs off just 52 balls, Cameron Green and Ben Dwarshuis contributed 35 and 17 runs, respectively, to the total.
