The visitors South Africa have won an important toss in the opening T20I of the three-match series and they are fielding first.  The series is an opportunity for both the teams to fine-tune their preparation for the T20 World Cup 2026 and it is expected to be a blockbuster contest between two quality teams.

Glenn Maxwell Moves Down The Order, South Africa Back Youngsters

Both teams have a power-packed batting line-up and the home team Australia will have Travis Head opening with Mitchell Marsh for the first time in T20Is. Glenn Maxwell will bat in the middle order for them while Josh Inglis will take the number 3 position. On the bowling front, Hazlewood is back in T20Is for Australia while he has the likes of Ben Dwarshuis and Nathan Ellis to accompany him.

South Africa, on the other hand, have decided to back youngsters over some of their experienced players. Lhuan-dre Pretorius has been included over Rassie van der Dussen while Kwena Maphaka gets a go over Nandre Burger.

It is after 17 years that Marrara Cricket Ground has got an opportunity to host an international match and it would be interesting to see how things pan out.  The unknown nature of the ground and pitch was the reason that South African captain Aiden Markram decided to bowl first as he said in the toss and would now be hoping that his bowlers keep a strong Australian batting line-up under control.
