Abhishek Sharma smacks 75 but Bangladesh bowlers pull back
In an innings with two contrasting halves, Team India accrued 168-6 from 20 overs after getting invited to bat first. Abhishek Sharma blasted 75 runs off just 37 balls with six fours and five huge sixes and was the architect behind India reaching a belligerent 96-2 at the halfway stage. Shubman Gill also cracked 29 off 19 balls during his 77-run partnership in six overs with Abhishek Sharma.
However, Bangladesh bowlers strangled down Team India after the wicket of Abhishek by drying up the runs in the second half of the innings. Rishad Hossain (2-27) picked up two key wickets and pulled off a sensational runout, while Tanzim Hasan Sakib and Mustafizur Rahman also chipped in with a wicket each during their economical spells.
Kuldeep, Jasprit Bumrah wallop BAN despite Saif Hassan’s fightback
Team India bowlers mounted over Bangladesh from the outset in their run-chase, with Jasprit Bumrah kicking things off by getting the wicket of opener Tanzid Hasan for just a single. Parvez Hossain Emon carved out 21 runs off 19 balls at number three and shared a fighting 42-run stand with opener Saif Hassan.
Indian spin trio, led by the experienced Kuldeep Yadav, effortlessly cut through Bangladesh’s middle-order to derail the latter’s run-chase. Saif Hassan played a lone hand in Bangladesh’s resistance by clubbing three fours and five sixes in his 51-ball knock for 69, but his mistime off Bumrah (2-18) at a crucial stage pretty much sealed the deal in India’s favour during the decisive overs.
Kuldeep Yadav picked up three, including Parvez Hossain Emon as well as that of Rishad Hossain to claim figures of 3-18. Varun Chakravarthy (2-29) and Axar Patel (1-37) collected three wickets between them and Tilak Varma delivered the knockout blow as India enveloped Bangladesh for 127 in 19.3 overs to secure a big 41-run win.
