India's star batter KL Rahul returned to domestic cricket after the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia, where India failed to clinch the series. Playing for Karnataka in the Ranji Trophy, Rahul was expected to deliver a strong performance, but his return was cut short as he managed only 26 runs on January 30.
Karnataka faced Haryana at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on January 30, with Haryana winning the toss and opting to bowl first. KL Rahul stepped in at No. 3 after KV Avneesh was dismissed for 17 runs. Given his recent good form, fans had high expectations, but he couldn’t convert his start into a big score.
In the 34th over of Karnataka’s first innings, CSK star Anshul Kamboj bowled a delivery that led to Rahul’s dismissal. On the fourth ball of the over, Haryana’s wicketkeeper Rohit Sharma took a brilliant catch to send Rahul back to the pavilion for 26 off 37 balls. His dismissal left Karnataka at 99 for 2.
Mayank Agarwal Steadies the Innings
Despite Rahul’s early exit, Karnataka captain Mayank Agarwal kept the innings stable with an impressive knock. He added 91 runs before getting dismissed, ensuring Karnataka remained in a strong position.
At the time of writing, Karnataka are at 162 for 3 in 48.3 overs, with Devdutt Padikkal and Smaran Ravichandaran at the crease.
