After a year with RCB, Rahul joined SRH in 2014 before eventually returning to RCB in 2016. In 2018, Rahul was bought by Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) for a whopping INR 11 crore in the mega auction. 

Moreover, in 2020, KL Rahul was appointed the captain of the Punjab Kings. Rahul performed well individually despite his side's inconsistency. Ahead of the 2022 IPL season, Rahul parted ways with PBKS and was drafted by the newly formed LSG for INR 17 crore.
