ACB presents jersey inspired by ‘cultural heritage’
On January 30, the ACB took to X and unveiled Afghanistan’s official jersey for the upcoming 2025 ICC Champions Trophy in Pakistan and in the UAE. Sharing an explosive 40-second promotional clip of the same, the ACB also added a caption stating that the jersey design was inspired by Afghanistan’s “rich cultural heritage.”
Earlier this month, the ACB also confirmed Afghanistan’s 15-player squad for the tournament. Set to be led by Hashmatullah Shahidi, the team also features several modern-day white-ball superstars in the form of Ibrahim Zadran, Azmatullah Omarzai, Fazalhaq Farooqi and charismatic spinner Rashid Khan among others. Players like Darwish Rasooli, Nangyal Kharoti and Bilal Sami were added to the squad as travelling reserves.

The Afghanistan cricket team is placed in Group B alongside Australia, England and South Africa. Hashmatullah Shahidi and co. will be playing their opening match of the tournament at the National Stadium in Karachi on February 21 against South Africa. They will continue their campaign with matches against England on February 26 and against Australia on February 28 in Lahore.
However, it is worth noting that the England and South African cricket teams are considering a boycott of their Afghanistan fixture to oppose Taliban’s restriction of women’s sports in the war-torn country.
