KKR handed a humiliating 80-run loss to SRH in the 15th game of the IPL 2025 season. Batting first, Angkrish and Venkatesh Iyer slammed a fifty each to power Kolkata to a 200-run total. In the second inning, SRH flattered completely as a brutal collapse bundled them to 120 runs, resulting in an 80-run defeat.
Here’s how KKR vs SRH panned out in Kolkata:
KKR Loses Openers Early
Kolkata Knight Riders batted first but Sunrisers Hyderabad captain Pat Cummins produced the first breakthrough, dismissing dangerous Quinton de Kock on just 1 run. He mistimed a pull shot, and Zeeshan Ansari made a simple catch at deep mid-wicket to send de Kock back to the dressing room.
Sunil Narine also couldn’t trouble the scoreboard as he edged Mohammed Shami’s delivery to wicket-keeper Heinrich Klaasen. Narine consulted his partner but decided against a review as KKR lost both the openers in the powerplay with just 16 runs on the board.
Kolkata Gets 200 After Angkrish, Venkatesh's Fifties
Despite early wickets, Angkrish Raghuvanshi anchored KKR’s inning with a gritty half-century of just 32 balls. With the stage set, Venkatesh Iyer and Rinku Singh delivered the finishing show.
Iyer, who was going through a lean patch, slammed 60 off just 29 balls. He hammered Pat Cummins for 21 runs in the 19th over of the first inning. Moreover, Iyer was also supported by Rinku who also snapped out of bad form. He contributed 32* off 17 balls and owing to their blazing finish, KKR posted 200 runs total on board.
Vaibhav Arora Humbles SRH’s Dangerous Top Order
The 200-run target appeared to be achievable until KKR’s impact player Vaibhav Arora bowled a dream spell in the powerplay. On the second delivery of the first over, Arora bowled a fuller delivery that shaped away and Travis Head went hard on the drive but only managed a sliced toe-end. The ball went over mid-off, where Harshit Rana went running back and took a superb tumbling catch to send Head back to the hut.
Harshit Rana also supported him from the other end to get rid of Abhishek Sharma in the second over. Moreover, Arora deceived SRH’s last hope, Ishan Kishan with another fuller delivery that angled in. Kishan went for the drive but ended up chipping it straight to cover. Skipper Ajinkya Rahane jumped to his left and took a brilliant catch to bring SRH 3 down with just 9 runs on the board.
SRH Stoops To New Low In Humiliating Loss
While Nitish Reddy and Kamindu Mendis put 35 runs together, Andre Russell broke the partnership to get Reddy’s wicket. Wickets kept falling in clusters for SRH as they were reduced to 75/6 at 10.4 overs. The chase eventually fell apart for Hyderabad as they got bundled for 120 runs. Vaibhav Arora and Varun Chakravarthy scalped 3 wickets each as KKR registered a dominant 80-run victory.
