Prior to the match, SRH captain Pat Cummins won the toss and opted to field first. He and his new ball pace mate Mohammed Shami responded well with the early wickets of Quinton de Kock and Sunil Narine respectively as the hosts slipped to 16-2 in less than three overs.
Thereafter, number four batter Angkrish Raghuvanshi clubbed a 32-ball half-century during a calculated partnership with captain Ajinkya Rahane (38 off 27). Their dismissals paved way for Venkatesh Iyer and Rinku Singh to break through the shackles in the backend of the innings.
