UP Warriorz's opener, Kiran Navgire, gave them something to cheer about in their second game of the season after putting up a fine show with the bat. UP Warriorz lost their first game and are now in desperate need of a win in the ongoing Women's Premier League (WPL) 2025.

Kiran Navgire, who is known for her exploits with the bat, opened the innings for the UP Warriorz side against Delhi Capitals in match number 6 of the Women's Premier League, as the Capitals, after winning the toss, asked the Warriors to bat first.

Kiran Navgire Plays A Fine 51-Run Knock

The match, happening at Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara, saw Kiran Navgire open the innings with Vrinda Dinesh as the duo joined hands to put Capitals under pressure. While Dinesh was dismissed after scoring 16 from 15 deliveries, Navgire, on the other hand, was fluent with the bat, scoring a brisk 51 off just 27 deliveries, with six fours and three sixes to her name in this innings as he batted at a strike rate of 188.89 to put the bowlers under immense pressure.

On the very first two deliveries against the experienced South African Marizanne Kapp, Navgire slammed two boundaries, while on the first two deliveries of the very next over, she went after Shikha Pandey to deliver a similar fate.

Kiran also went aggressive on the final ball of the third over, clubbing Kapp for her first six of the innings. At the same time, the second and third deliveries of the fourth over by Jess Jonassen were hammered for a six and four, respectively.

She did not halt there as the right-hander slammed Pandey for another maximum on the initial ball of the fifth over, as she kept ticking the scorecard.

24-Ball Half-Century For Navgire

Batting on 46 after facing 23 deliveries, Navgire thumped Arundhati Reddy for a crucial boundary to reach her half-century off just 24 deliveries. This valuable knock took the UP Warriorz to a flier as they were 73 for the loss of just one wicket after the conclusion of their seven overs.

However, soon after this, the 30-year-old was dismissed by Annabel Sutherland on the next delivery at the beginning of the eighth over, as she was caught by Shafali Verma while going for another big hit.

Despite the setback, UP Warriorz were in a formidable position to post a decent target on the board. By the end of the 14th over, UP lost their four wickets for 108 runs, with Grace Harris (11) and Shweta Sehrawat (16) still at the crease.
