The much-anticipated Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 match between Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) will commence shortly as the two sides will collide in match 2 of the 2025 season at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium in Hyderabad. The visiting captain, Riyan Parag won the toss and elected to field first.

Eyebrows were raised when Sanju Samson didn't came out for the toss as the Kerala batter is the captain of the team. However, there is a reason behind his exclusion and it has nothing to do with his form.

Why Samson is not included in playing XI Vs SRH?

The RR captain suffered from an index finger injury during the T20I series Vs England, a couple of months ago and had to underwent a surgery for the same. There were reports that he might miss a few matches in the league, but he was available right from match 1.

However, since the injury hasn't completely healed and he is included in the impact players' list since keeping wickets with a finger injury will be a difficult task. Hence, Riyan Parag will lead the side in the first three matches and Samson will mostly play as an impact player.

RR's playing XI Vs SRH

Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubham Dubey, Nitish Rana, Riyan Parag (c), Dhruv Jurel (wk), Shimron Hetmyer, Jofra Archer, Maheesh Theekshana, Tushar Deshpande, Sandeep Sharma, Fazalhaq Farooqi

With RR batting second, Samson will most likely come in as an impact player and is likely to open alongside Yashasvi Jaiswal. The team has also gone in with Jofra Archer in the pace department and also have Fazalhaq Farooqi in the playing XI.
