Jasprit Bumrah rattled Ben Stokes’ off-stump to pick up his fourth wicket of the day. Earlier in the English innings, the seasoned Indian speedster accounted for the key wickets of Joe Root, Ollie Pope and Jonny Bairstow in quick succession to trigger a colossal middle-order collapse for the visitors.

Through the course of his three-wicket burst, Bumrah completed 50 Test wickets against England. After snapping up Stokes an hour later in the day, the Indian fast bowler tallied another major landmark to his Test career by completing 150 wickets in the format.

Bumrah completes 150 Test wickets with this record

Jasprit Bumrah made his Test debut with an away match against South Africa back in January 2018. Turning up for his country for the 34th time in the format when he took field against England at Vizag, Bumrah wrecked the visitor’s batting line-up with a sizzling four-fer.

The cricketer, who owned 146 wickets in his Test tally prior to the contest, has now completed 150 career wickets.

Remarkably, Bumrah became the fastest Indian pacer ever to get to the landmark figure, and third-joint fastest overall alongside former spinners Anil Kumble and Erapalli Prasanna (34 matches each).

As of now, Bumrah’s teammates Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja continue to remain the fastest Indian bowlers to complete 150 wickets in their Test journeys, completing the feat in 29 and 32 matches respectively.

Among all Asian fast bowlers, Jasprit Bumrah is only second behind the great Waqar Younis (27 matches) to reach to the milestone figure.

After reaching the 150-wicket mark, the Indian paceman also worked over English tailender Tom Hartley to bag the 10th five-wicket haul of his career. Bumrah’s spell helped Team India gain a huge first innings lead against England in their must-win second Test of the five-match series.
