The Royals look to continue on the winning trail [X.com]
Rajasthan Royals (RR) aim to stretch their initial strong footing and momentum in IPL 2024 with another victory in their next league stage encounter against the Delhi Capitals (DC) on Thursday (March 28).
Having defeated the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at home, the Royals strive to keep their Jaipur fortress strong in the exciting clash versus the spirited Delhiites.
For the Capitals led by Rishabh Pant, it will be an opportunity to get on board in the competition after losing their opening game to their northern rivals Punjab Kings (PBKS) at the new Mullanpur Stadium, where Shikhar Dhawan & company exposed chinks in their armoury.

Rajasthan Royals
The Royals had their skipper, Sanju Samson leading the ship from the front with a terrific knock of 82 not out off 52 deliveries, including three fours and 6 sixes. Samson helped the Royals overcome a shaky start where they lost their valiant openers Jos Buttler (24) and Yashasvi Jaiswal (11) cheaply but eventually posted a gigantic 193/4 in 20 overs.
Providing Samson support was Assam's explosive right-hander Riyan Parag, who relished his promotion up to No.4 with a substantial contribution worth 43 off 29 balls before young wicketkeeper-batter Dhruv Jurel's 12-ball 20* cameo provided the innings an ideal finish.
The game, however, was won by RR's star-studded bowling unit, with timely breakthroughs from Trent Boult (2/35) and R Ashwin (1/35) as well as tight spells from Avesh Khan (1/21), Yuzvendra Chahal (1/25) and Sandeep Sharma (1/22) making a huge difference to the end outcome.
Delhi Capitals
The Capitals would've rued the fact that multiple of their top six players got starts but failed to convert them into something truly substantial. Openers David Warner (29) and Mitchell Marsh (20) as well as DC's new overseas recruit Shai Hope (33) and comeback man Pant (18) looked in terrific form but none carried on to post an individual score that would've made an impact.
That it took cameos from Axar Patel (21) and young Abhishek Porel (32*) for the Capitals to reach over 170-run mark on a flat pitch told a story in itself. As did the franchise's bowling unit and its unconvincing pace attack in the second half, where despite spin twins Patel (0/25) and Kuldeep Yadav (2/20) giving away less than 6 an over in their eight overs combined, the Capitals lost with 4 balls remaining.

RR vs DC: Jaipur Pitch Report
The game against the Super Giants made clear the kind of surfaces Royals want to prepare in their den at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, with the ground's natural pace and bounce only playing an ally to stroke-makers in either side. One can close his/her eyes and predict another flat batting paradise to be dished out, where Royals would back their powerpacked batting unit to post huge scores and their robust bowling attack to curtail the opposition wings.

RR vs DC: Winner Prediction
The Royals would be mindful of DC's powerpacked batting line-up but they do have the bowling depth to restrict the opposition on the park while also possessing a terrific batting unit of their own that will certainly target Delhi's weaker-suit: their pace attack. Royals start off as favourites for this one.
