Anuj Rawat played a scintillating knock vs CSK [AP]
In the quest for their first win of IPL 17, Royal Challengers Bengaluru will welcome Punjab Kings at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru, in match 6 of the season on Monday, 25th March.
PBKS, on the other hand, would like to continue with the momentum they gained back at home and win their second consecutive match in the season.
RCB vs PBKS: Team Previews
Royal Challengers Bengaluru
The Bengaluru-based franchise, which got off to a good start against the Chennai Super Kings, would be disappointed with their middle-order collapse to Mustafizur Rahman, who had back-to-back double-wicket overs.
Thanks to Anuj Rawat and Dinesh Karthik’s 95-run stand, RCB pulled things back to get 173 on the board.
While still being a tad under-par, the bowlers managed to get the CSK top-4 at 110, where Cameron Green led their defence.
While still having a few positives, RCB wouldn’t be happy with the performances of their leading bowlers, Mohammed Siraj and Alazarri Joseph, who went wicketless while conceding 76 off their combined 7.4 overs.
To find some inspiration and turn things around, RCB will look at Virat Kohli, Glenn Maxwell, and Mohammed Siraj, who would like to use their experience for the team’s cause.
Punjab Kings
Shikhar Dhawan will play a vital role for PBKS [AP]
On the other side of the spectrum, Punjab Kings started their season with a triumphant game against Delhi Capitals where they chased down 175 with 4 wickets to spare.
Fielding first, Punjab had Delhi six down for 128, but the Capitals posted a decent score on the board, thanks to Abhishek Porel’s late blitz. Arshdeep bowled well, recording figures of 2 for 28 off his four overs.
Shikhar Dhawan gave them a good start alongside Prabhsimran Singh. They had a little hiccup in the middle, but Sam Curran stood at one end, scoring 63(47), while Liam Livingstone finished things off with an unbeaten 38 off 21.
PBKS would like to build on the confidence they carried from home after a complete team effort and potentially go to the top of the table early in the season.
