Punjab Kings skipper Shreyas Iyer took field for his team against Rajasthan Royals in Jaipur despite battling a gruesome finger injury. Batting at number five, the cricketer even compiled a crucial 30 from 25 balls after Punjab Kings slipped to 35-3 at one stage of the match.

While Shreyas subbed himself out of the game at the halfway stage of the match, the senior Indian batter was still spotted giving his inputs to teammates from outside the boundary.

Shreyas Iyer continues to keep himself in the game

Punjab Kings captain Shreyas Iyer subbed himself out of the game at the halfway stage against Rajasthan Royals owing to an injury on his index finger. Monitoring the game from outside the boundary, the 30-year-old still kept himself engaged by providing valuable inputs to his teammates.

At one stage of the Rajasthan Royals run-chase, Shreyas was spotted talking with one of the players.

Shreyas Iyer subbed himself out after the conclusion of the Punjab Kings innings, with all-rounder Harpreet Brar stepping in as an ‘Impact Substitute’. Explosive middle-order batter Shashank Singh, on the other hand, stepped up to lead Punjab Kings in Iyer’s absence.

Earlier in the match, Shreyas compiled 30 runs from 25 balls with five elegant boundaries to lift Punjab Kings from a precarious 35-3 to over 100 in less than 11 overs. Nehal Wadhera and Shashank Singh also blasted half-centuries as Punjab Kings mounted 219-5 by the completion of their innings.

Wadhera top-scored with 70 runs from just 37 balls by smearing five fours and five huge sixes. Shashank belted 59 unbeaten runs off 30 deliveries to provide the finishing fury in Punjab’s batting onslaught.
