India are just 58 runs away from victory in the second Test against the West Indies in Delhi, finishing day 4 at 63/1 while chasing a modest target of 121.

Despite a strong fightback from the visitors, the hosts remain in control and look set to wrap up the series on the final day.

John Campbell & Shai Hope frustrate India with heroic tons

The day started with the West Indies showing great resilience after being forced to follow on. From 173/2, John Campbell led the charge with a superb 115 off 199 balls, his first Test hundred since returning to the side.

He played positively against the Indian spinners and kept the scoreboard ticking with a 178-run partnership with Shai Hope.

Despite Ravindra Jadeja getting the breakthrough, Hope continued to frustrate the hosts, scoring a fighting century (103 off 214 balls). Their stand gave the West Indies hope of making India bat again.

India lost the plot after the Windies showed resistance and went defensive, allowing the lower order to pile up more runs. Justin Greaves and Roston Chase scored 50* and 40 runs, respectively, as West Indies’ lead crossed 100 runs.

After toiling hard for more than 2 sessions, India finally bowled out the West Indies for 390 runs, thus setting up a target of 121 runs for itself. Kuldeep Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah picked 3 wickets each, while Siraj contributed with 2 dismissals.

India smell 2-0 glory after a strong start in the chase

In the fourth inning, Yashasvi Jaiswal, with the intent to wrap up the chase quickly, holed out to Anderson Philip while attacking Jomel Warrican, and India lost a wicket with just 9 runs on the board.

Regardless of the dismissal, KL Rahul and Sai Sudharsan batted with grit and composure to knit a 54* runs partnership. By stumps on day 4, India had 63 runs on the board at the loss of 1 wicket.

On day 5, India will need only 58 runs to win with 9 wickets in hand. The host team will look to wrap things up in the first session on day 5 to seal a 2-0 series victory.
